Comment on Giant Turtle Slippers

If anyone thinks Susan's turtle slippers are cute in the picture, they look even better in person! She wore these as she trudged into the room at our Circle Retreat recently held at Ocean Isle. Of course, these slippers only augmented part of her ensemble, because to look at these, you had to get past the foam turtle visor and the genuine turtle shell purse (complete with fringe)!!!

I invited Susan to our retreat after hearing her speak at a Stonecroft Ministry event. I knew her "turtle testimony" and analogies would make her a great "keynoter" for our retreat entitled "SeaSide Escape." I was ecstatic when her calendar of events allowed her to attend.

I, nor my circle sisters, were disappointed. She is not only a powerfully dynamic speaker, but a genuinely warm person! Susan always speaks to the soul, and she touched our heart strings with her "musings." She surprised me by "coming out of her shell" with her guitar and singing one of the newest songs she has written. My group enjoyed the CD, "Expectantly", which she and her husband, Roger, have produced.

Of course, I can't divulge all, but suffice it to say that we had a wonderfully relaxing, spiritual encounter. I hope one day that we can have Susan come back for a sequel!!! She is a true vessel made by the Potter's Hand.

And I really needed to hear YOUR words of encouragement today - I was preaching to the choir with this post. I am 'restlessly resting' in His arms as we speak.

Where have you moved from/to? Seems like you told me, but I can't remember. When you come out of your shell, I would love to be a guest blogger for Turtle Tuesdays- and vice versa. Perhaps we "met" so that when we're each too weary to hold up our heads, we can hold up each others. I know I would love that kind of relationship and prayer support!

I am enjoying your turtle talk so much. I needed to hear your words today. I moved this summer across the country and my blog has been resting. This post reminded me it is ok. Hi Patti - great to hear from you! I know you were on the list of names of people I asked to be invited - I think maybe they didn't know where you were living? Not sure what happened there and I apologize for that. It was a wonderful trip "home" and I was truly blessed by the reception everyone gave to my brothers and I. I'm living in Raleigh, NC. In Facebook as Susan Ely (didn't think to make it Susan Marini Ely and now I can't figure out how to fix it.) How did you find me here? Would love to hear more about you and what you're up to!
